iBET is now part of EATRIS – European infrastructure for translation medicine -, an European research consortium that supports the advancement of knowledge and technology in translational research and drug development. The five focus areas of EATRIS are: ATMP, small molecules, vaccines, biomarkers and imaging & tracing.
The consortium currently comprises over 80 leading European academic institutions, selected on the basis of their track record in public-private collaboration in the translational development, multidisciplinary teams of leading academic experts and high-end research facilities and licenses. Within the infrastructure, iBET is part of the ATMP and Vaccines platforms.
Portugal formally entered EATRIS as a member in 2018 and it is currently represented by INFARMED – National Authority of Medicines and Health Products. In addition to iBET, there are other 13 Portuguese institutes and research facilities that integrate the Portuguese network. Portugal’s participation in EATRIS facilitates the integration of national hospitals and research institutes in joint projects and grant applications.
