Ana Barbas

Ana Barbas is the Coordinator of the Bayer Satellite Laboratory, part of the Animal Cell Technology Unit – IBET Health & Pharma Division.

Ana Barbas graduated in Applied Chemistry at the Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia da Universidade de Lisboa, and holds a PhD in Biology from Instituto de Tecnologia Química Biológica da Universidade Nova de Lisboa.

Coordinator of Bayer Satellite Laboratory Research Team at iBET since 2009. Major research area involves discovery of therapeutic antibodies using Phage Display Technology. Current interests include the design and execution of antibody library selection and screening strategies for the expression and characterization of selected therapeutic phage antibodies against disease-specific targets. Most recent interests involve the design and development of Eukaryotic and Prokaryotic expression platforms for the production of complex biopharmaceuticals, including antibodies and other recombinant proteins.
