Inês Isidro is a scientist at iBET in computational biotechnology of animal cells. She graduated from Instituto Superior Técnico with a MSc in Biological Engineering and holds a PhD in Bioengineering Systems from the MIT-Portugal Program.
Her background includes work in bioinformatics, computational data analysis and applied systems biology. During her PhD she developed and applied hybrid metabolic models to improve the production process for an antibody fragment. She was also a co-founder of the biotech startup MediaOmics, where she supported the development of a platform to customize culture media formulations.
Her current work combines proven tools from systems biology, omics technologies, computational modelling, machine learning and process analytical technologies to improve production processes and increase metabolic understanding in animal cell technology applications. Ongoing research includes the development of insect cell-based platforms for production of viral vectors for gene therapy and the deployment of metabolomic approaches in the establishment of a precision medicine platform for ovarian cancer. She is currently co-supervisor to 1 MSc and 2 PhD students.
