Tiago Bandeiras

Tiago M. Bandeiras is the Merck Healthcare Lab Head, a group of the Structural Biology for Drug Discovery Unit at iBET.

Tiago M. Bandeiras graduated in Applied Chemistry/Biotecnhology at the Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, and holds a PhD in Biochemistry from Instituto de Tecnologia Química Biológica (ITQB), Universidade Nova de Lisboa.

Coordinator of the molecular interactions and biophysics collaboration with Merck KGaA since 2005. At the Merck Lab, the focus is to support the development of new therapeutic antibodies and small molecules cancer drugs, by using two intersecting and complementary areas in drug development programs: Structure-based drug design & Molecular interactions. The powerful combination of Recombinant Protein Production and X-Ray Crystallography with a molecular interactions orthogonal platform comprising Surface Plasmon Resonance, Differential Scanning Fluorimetry and Bio-Layer Interferometry is key to support innovative drug discovery programs. Current interests also include protein construct design by Limited Proteolysis, Cellular Target Engagement, Antigen:Antibody Structural Studies and Assay Development.
